Aqua and Antenatal Yoga

After over 14 years as a swimming teacher, it seemed a natural step to combine my two passions; yoga and swimming.

Aqua yoga is the most natural way to promote and sustain fitness and health. It offers a gentle and easily available way to enjoy movement and breathing by using the supportive element of the water.

Using a combination of swimming exercises and classic yoga postures, this class will benefit those who wish to get fit and maintain a healthy body.

Swimming is rated as the top exercise for stamina, suppleness and strength as it exercises the whole body simultaneously. It boosts your immune system and increases lung capacity. Supported by the water, joints and muscles can move freely, unhampered by gravity.

Antenatal yoga is specifically designed around the trimesters of pregnancy, and the practice is adapted to meet the physical needs of mums' rapidly changing body.

In antenatal yoga, we aim to:
  • Enjoy a gravity free environment
  • Open the pelvis
  • Stretch and strengthen spinal and abdominal muscles
  • Gain control of the pelvic floor muscles, so you can relax them while giving birth
  • Expand your breathing capacity
  • Relax deeply and release worries and stress
  • 'Tune in’ with your growing baby
